First abc poster

Our first alphabet poster was the Abc character one and since then we've made at least another seven new designs. But we can't just let these characters go... Any suggestions what we should do with them? Anyone?

it's thanksgiving morning, quiet and foggy. as ever, only the cat and i are up. she's drinking rain water from the plants outside, i'm admiring the turkey quietly marinating , and digesting our traditional ,night before thanksgiving, dinner. wish german girl and the lab would wake up so we can start cooking.

Now on your Kindle!

Do you have a kindle? I have yet to get one but have heard glowing reviews from everyone who has one (it was even talked about on the skirted round table!). The benefits of space & environmental savings are obvious. Well, now blogs are available for subscription on the kindle and I've uploaded ArchitectDesign! It appears on the kindle similarly to reading a blog online: see last Saturday's post above.

The only complaints I've heard are that the kindle is still in b&w and most blogs (that I follow, including this one) are visual; color is important! Also, the larger sized device is both pricey and a little clunky. I'm still not sold completely on reading books on an electronic screen like this, I'm old school and LOVE books! I would love to hear what you think of it. Check out my blog on your kindle if you have one and let me know what you think!

don't whistle around the turkey

I hear they hate it. They do crazy things if you whistle around them. This is my advice for tomorrow. Although, I guess the turkey we'll be keeping company with will have heard his last whistle.
And on that note...


The things I'm most thankful for are the simple details. Just when I think it couldn't get better, it does. And I'm not saying that everything is perfect. I'd never say that. But I like the imperfections and struggles almost more than the times that feel completely perfect because in it I feel progress. Life is good.

wednesday night and counting

home at last. flower arrangements finished, last minute stop at whole foods, now a bath and then the turkey! this is where we rinse off the brine, cut out the backbone and marinate the two halves. love cooking the bird this way, it cooks faster, the breast stays moist and the skin browns beautifully. here are a few photos of some centerpieces from today. some like 'em blue, some like 'em orange, some like a fusion of contemporary/ traditional (?!?) . me, i like them done!

Fishy

Went to Sweden for some inspiration. A few days away in a magical winter wonderland... some ice fishing, snowball fighting and mould wine drinking by the fire place...  Right! First of all, the lakes don't freeze over until January. November is mild and rainy... rainier than England in fact! And no one has fireplaces over there! So we cought crayfish in the rain and grilled hot dogs over open fire instead. Kind of cozy... in a cold damp way.
