Footprints

One night a man had a dream. He dreamt he was walking along the beach with the Lord. Across the sky flashed scenes from his life. For each scene he noticed two sets of footprints on the sand -- one belonging to him and the other to the Lord. When the last scene had flashed before him, he looked back at the footprints and noticed only one set. He noticed it happened in the lowest and saddest times of his life.
This bothered him and he questioned the Lord. " Lord, you said that once I decided to follow you, you would walk all the way with me, but during the most troublesome times of my life there was only one set of footprints. I don't understand why, when I needed you most, you deserted me."
The Lord replied, " My precious child, I love you and would never leave you. During your times of trial and suffering, when you see only one set of footprints, those were the times when I carried you in my arms."

I came across this story many years ago, when I had a similar question to ask the Lord.

Lunch with the Ladies

Just a little peek at a lunch I recently hosted for my sister in law Jo's birthday and for us all to have a little catch up before Hugo Maxwell arrived!

Nine mothers and twelve children, including a set of twins and a newborn...........we had it all.

On the menu were chicken, mushroom and leak pies with rocket pear and parmesean salad, dressed in a sticky balsamic, follwed by individual lemon and sour cream cakes for dessert.

 

A fun time was had by all, both mums and babes which proves you CAN entertain with children! 

The next day I did it all again but this time for four ladies and no kids.

A Note From Her Familiar

Tho' I'm not a black cat, and Jane isn't a witch (occasionally substitute a b) I am her familiar.

I was here before the Lab, I was here before German Girl. I've been here since the beginning of time.

I've been around the block a few times, got into a few fights. Vision in both eyes is overrated. So are fangs. I still rule this hood and this house. I have my hiss. And a hitch in my back leg.

It's Halloween morn. The moon is setting and my fur is getting ruffled thinking of the night ahead.

We have a pumpkin with a face on it, we have bowls of candy, candles will be flickering, the Lab will be barking then wagging it's tail. And me, I'll be waiting, to pounce, to hiss, to make all the little children cry.

This is my night. Fear me.

My birthday started out early {for me} with a yummy breakfast at Ruth's Diner up Emigration Canyon.

Then lunch at Spaghetti Factory with my parents and Grandma.

Followed by an afternoon at the zoo with Lt.  

{and before you send a flurry of curious emails: just great friends.}

The zoo was a wonderful idea.  Sunny afternoon checking out animals?  Yes please.

I didn't think I had a favorite animal, but I do.  Giraffes!  I love them.  Graceful, curious, purple tongue, gorgeous eyelashes and that coat they wear?  Very designer.

This little lady was snacking on some twigs while keeping an eye on us.  I swear she winked at me when I said, "Hello."

I finished out the night with a party downtown at a warehouse with a couple hundred of my closest friends. 

{I pretended they were all there for me, not Halloween.}

The theme of my costume this year:  "Go Cougars"  

I thought it'd be a funny choice since "Cougar" is a term for the older ladies preying on the younger guys.

Bridges of Paris

Paris may be the city of lights but is also a city of bridges.

One of the best ways to explore the city is to walk along the river. The bridges provide excellent viewpoints to see the monuments of the town.

Some of the bridges themselves have become tourist attractions!

I guess this makes the bridges happy? This statues smile is broader than a mile.

I'm heading to Barcelona later this week with friends for a wedding so travel has been on my mind lately. I've been revisiting my photos from Paris last year; So much beauty that I had to share it with you here today.

Even something as simple as a light post can become a work of art.
