The apartment

The theme song from the great 1960 film starring Jack Lemmon and Shirley MacLaine is "Jealous Lover" - a song I love dearly and played about 100x on the piano while home this past weekend. The film won five Academy Awards including Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Original Screenplay. Enjoy!
Wingbud Wallpaper
I recently came across this amazing wallpaper shop...in Sweden. While I'm heart broken that I do not live in Sweden, I enjoyed this wall paper so much that I had to share it. They are designed by an uber talented woman, Lena Hautoniemi. She designed all the wall paper and is also an artist!
This is Silhouette in yellow. If t his doesn't make you want to live in Sweden, I don't know what would.
Can I live in this little cabin? Only if it has a wallpapered door. This gorgeous pattern is Polypodium in light turquoise. I love the contrast of the rustic on the bright whimsical design.
Lena is very inspired by the nature in her surrounding environment as she lives right near Norway. This incredibly intricate pattern is called Gooseberry.
This pattern reminds me of a skirt that I keep going back to at Anthropologie...maybe it's a sign that I should just buy the skirt. Blue Lace.
Even though her patterns are super whimsical and organic, here is something a little bit different but equally as beautiful; Blue Dots.
Just in case you weren't convinced, she's also an amazing artist. These little abstract scenes are so beautiful and captivating. Having a Bath.
I just adore the colors in this one and the visible brushstrokes. Spring Clothes.

They would probably make me redo the entire room if I did it. I have big plans for a fun office or a powder room though with some really gorgeous wall paper. My favorite is the Bombay pattern. All these wall papers are available in many other lovely colors too. OH! And she also has a blog! I can't read it because I don't know Swedish but the images are SO worth it. Thanks Lena!

All in one kitchen
I recently came across this amazing all in one kitchen system. Made in Italy by Meneghini, the mini-kitchen fits into a wood or lacuqered cabinet that looks like a piece of furniture. However, it opens up to reveal 2 electric rings, a sink and faucet, a fridge and 2 storage compartments - magic!
I think a cabinet like this would be great for a mountain or beach cottage - or maybe a city studio apartment in NYC where one doesn't cook at home. I immediately thought of the beach huts that Meg at Pigtown talked about last week as a perfect place for one of these contraptions.
I especially love this image of the item in wood with a mirrored top. What do you think? Good or bad?
Elegant Japanese Wholefood cuisine from Urban Aussie gardens
Persimmons, Daikon, lotus root and salty umeboshi plums - for Japanese cuisine lovers, these are the easy-to-cook basics you could be growing and then relishing in your inner urban garden. Cecilia and her WWOOFer Lon Kazunori show Vasili the Greek how this household does it.
Daikon are famous for being 'pioneers' that help you break up tough soil in your garden. I see lotus growing in tubs on rooftop gardens in tokyo's summers, but still haven't glimpsed one, not even one, in Melbourne. Blue Lotus water gardens sell them, but at $80 per corm, maybe people are just to nervous they might fail.
Im trying one of my persimmons in a tub, and I'll let you know how it goes.
